Block paving recommendation?

I am looking to get my driveway replaced and from what I've read I will need to either use permeable block paving, or direct surface water to a permeable or porous surface in front of the home. Due to the relative shortness of my drive I don't think directing the water away is possible.

I was hoping for some advice on:-
1. Is a drainage channel an option?
2. Do I therefore require permeable pavers?

A few neighbours have had their drives redone by me and it doesn't look to me like any of them have had permeable paving - am I misunderstanding something?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi, rather than copy and paste or to try and explain in my own words, here's a link on drive drainage

http://www.pavingexpert.com/drain01.htm

I know from experience on jobs, building control and the Highways Agengcy are not happy in draining driveways onto the carriageway.
