Hi

Other than compressive strength is there any other difference between 3.6N and 7.3N blocks.

For example for two blocks the same size from the same manufacturer in the same range, eg Tarmac TopCreate will there be any notable differences such as weight, apearance or durability if used externally.

I’m looking to build retaining some retaining walls just over 2ft high with hollow or solid dense concrete blocks. I don’t think the compressive strength is particularly relevant in this case(?) just wondered if there were any other side effects that might make either more suitable?

Thanks in advance
Mark

weight certainly, they're more dense so should be more durable if weather exposed, visually i can't see much difference. they are certainly harder to cut!

the cheap wickes medium density concrete blocks are fine/better for your project though, or go a little further and get hollow 9" wide concrete blocks that can be infilled with concrete to make a solid masonry wall

Any concrete block will be OK for this use.

The only ones to avoid are the aerated block (Thermalite etc)
