the the electricity just went out and i had to put on the generator but it was momentarilary set too high and one of the mcb's in the main fuse box in the domestic house will not reset, it is stuck on tripped even with all the fuses disconnected. Is the mcb damaged and is it easy replaced?

Have you tried pressing it all the way down to off, and then resetting it?

Some makes like Square D SQO and MK sentry mark III are like this.

yeap tried that, it will stay down (off) and it will push up (on) but keeps springing down to "tripped" even with all the fuses out

If you are competent, try disconnecting all neutrals then see if it will reset.

Had this on an old GET consumer unit a couple of months ago, the only way to reset the mcb's was to take them out of the board and hold them upside down  not very good at all.

Replaced 2 x 32A MCB in the end.
