I have a clue about what your posting. Lies!

shall i inject some facts to the best off my ability
i was a train driver man and boy for nearing 25 years yes it was nearly 20 years ago when i got the sack on the southern region BR
the tube can on certain line be fully automatic but not on open stretches
within the tunnels you will always need staff for evacuations in case off mishap /failure

on the nation railways
the amount off training depends on route miles and complexities types off traction and [different locos and units] and different train types] passenger freight engineers stone etc]

the minimum will be less than a year with some taking in excess off 2 years to fully cover all traction and routes covered

as an aside when i first started on the footplate in early 70s you drove your train in the dark with no lights only 2 or 3x15w marker lights so people can see you coming
you had to know exactly where every bend speed restriction and station is in the dark and apply the brakes up to a mile away to stop

But its so much easier to drive a truck isn't it

different jobs really
of course a lot off the skills off one will be similar to the other

the wage levels will tell you which jobs are easiest to fill

A left wing socialist who cared not a jot about the people his strikes and pay rises would affect.

Train drivers on £45k per year for a 35 hour week? Tube station staff doing menial jobs on £30k?
HGV driving is far more skilled and those guys earn nothing like that, plus they don't have rails to guide them.
No big loss.

as a station staff member my menial job last week included dealing with a "one under " its not all "tickets please " and "mind the gap"
approx 65% fail the tube drivers course and it usually takes 12 weeks before a driver is let loose on his own

would you say Bob is a loss if he negotiated you a deal that includes 52 days holiday a year and 49K ( not 30K )

Certainly not - for his union members.

The travelling public might have differing views, however.

I'm glad I don't live in London!
