I think it looks quite robust and being transparent gives you a good indication when it has collected crud from the system.
I guess if you could afford both the magnaclean and the boilerbuddy then you have the added benefit of having a sightglass to determine when to clean the magnaclean.

i think he means that to open up the thing to clean out the black stuff, then put in back together, magnaclean on the other hand is a piece of cake to open and clean,
had a boiler service the other day where a early type maganaclean (flat bottom) and even on a clean system it still picked up stuff not loads but enough to show the customer and tell them what a good investments they got
