boiler fed from lighting circuit

When trying to isolate the electrical feed for a heating installation, I found it came from a junction box that was loose on top of a ceiling. The space above the ceiling is accessible. the load is: boiler, timer, pump and two zone valves, which I guess brings it to about 2 amp.
I know it is a clumsy way of doing it, but is it actually illegal?
I suspect it was done by previous owner who is a keen diy enthusiast. I have found various problems including a couple of code 1 despite the fact that the house was recently rewired. Allegedly by nic registered sparky.

Its not against regs, and would normally put it OFF the RCD, so all good, but it is bad practise, and theres NORMALLY no ill effects to having it on the RCD.

I take it there are also lights on the same circuit then, or is it that the heating is wired in 1.0mm² or 1.5mm².

Oops, forgot to mention the most important part. The jb on the ceiling is a light jb. Would that make it illegal feeding a boiler and pump etc ?

Before Wiring Centres it was common to find a 4 or 6 terminal Joint Box in the Airing Cupboard used for the connection of the controls.

i don't just mean the box, it is fed from the 6 amp light circuit. fortunately from the loop in loop out so it the heating does not stop when you turn the light off.

Thanks for the advice, this was one of those things i would never do myself but was not quite sure if i had to change it.
