Hi all, wonder if anyone can give advice on what to check for this.

I have a 9 year old British Gas 50F2 boiler (made by Potterton). It has worked perfectly till now. Now nothing happens when you switch on the hot water, not even attempting to spark. The heating hasn't been on all summer, but on testing it, it worked perfecly. I've checked both motorized valves and they are both opening and shutting when I press the relevant switches. I'm guessing electrical probs with switch, but it ia complete guess.

Any advice much appreciated.

Thanks,
Iain.

I'd guess you're right. See if the orange wire out of the 2 port valve goes live (careful!!) when you open the valve QUICKLY. It has to overshoot the fixable position to hit the switch. Good chance you'd hear the pump start.
If Orange is live all the time, try the grey, they can be either way round.

Thanks for the quick response chris. I'll try and check tomorrow.

The grey wire had come loose in the valve. Thanks again chris.
