I viewed a house today built about 1985. The garage is separate from the house and the rear quarter of the garage has been separated by a dividing wall to create a utility room. There is no water tank in the house so I presume it is a combination boiler and it is a valliant model. The heated water is carried under the paving stones to the house ....a distance of about ten feet. Is this an acceptable practice? Are there any problems that this arrangement could bring?

If it’s been installed properly it’s fine... same applies with all installs.
Ask to see maintenance/service history and if the installer is the one who services it.

As above but consider having a rgi do a visual inspection before buying the property. You never know it could be a diy self install, seen that sort of advice churned out on diynot (n)

You will need to run hot taps ( with cold water coming out ) long enough until hot water travels from garage to house. Gas will be burning while the cold water is coming out of the taps. This waste of gas and water can be reduced ( but not completely eliminated ) by heavily insulating the pipes under the ground with water proof thermal insulation

As mentioned from above ^ the system needs consideration.Every property is different and beware of any self diy installations.Ask your legal rep about adopting self diy installations :(,

if they dont know tell tem to feck off
