Boiler live supply / return wire rating

I am changing the trigger for my boiler from a timer to a wiring centre.

The wiring centre is in a different place to the boiler.

What cable diameter is acceptable to run from the boiler live supply / return to the writing centre?

I have a reel of 2-core 0.75mm2 - would this be acceptable?
 
Does the 2 core have earth? What’s in the boiler mi’s?
 
No, 2-core doesn't have an earth :)

The boiler installation guide states that a 3amp fuse should be fitted (which it is).

It also states that you should use the boilers 230v output to provide power to the wiring centre which I have not done. The wiring centre has a 5 amp fuse so could be be that it could pull more than the boilers rated 3amps and blow the fuse ?

It sounds like the best thing to do is to run some 5 core heat resistant 0.75mm2 or 1mm2 cable from the boiler into the wiring centre and power everything via the boiler.

I don’t think I’ve known wiring centres to contain a fuse.

In case it’s not obvious, the issue here is that someone working in the boiler should be able to turn it off at its local FCU (or unplug it) and then be confident that it is safe, and no wires/terminals etc. inside the boiler are live.

Thanks, this makes perfect sense.
Everything now stems from the boiler and can be isolated by it's FCU.

I do cringe at the phrase wiring centre, in the main they are just a junction box, why give them a different name? But central heating wiring as said should come from one supply, so in an emergency that supply can be replaced, mine will run from the solar inverter and battery should the DNO supply fail, and with some boilers if the supply is not taken from the boiler, it is easy to by-pass the boilers overload device.

My boiler is supplied from a fused connection unit (FCU) not really a good idea, better with a plug and socket, so I can power from an alternative supply Battery pack and charger.jpg like shown which can give 300 watt, but since connected to my 6.4 kWh battery and 5 kW inverter for me, it does not matter.

Where we have multi-cables between points, I suppose only one needs to carry the earth,

That I don't really understand, wiring centres are only junction boxes, I use a hub, in fact two hubs in parrellel which combine many control devices to the one boiler, so three thermostats, all of them programmable, so the time can change the temperture at which they are trigger the motorised valve, pump, and boiler.

Some connections are wireless, and some wired, due to the wireless I can mount the hubs above the boiler. It depends on the make and model used, with some the hub and thermostat are combined, that would not work for me.

Some programmable thermostats use extra low voltage, one of mine does, the Nest Gen 3 wall thermostat uses a 12 volt DC link to the hub, that could use two core cable, as it does not need an earth. It is called SELV which stands for sepreated extra low voltage, and sepreated means I can't connect an earth.

I do wonder if the wiring centre you talk about is really a hub?
 
It's a heatmiser ufh8 "wiring centre".

Zones 1-7 are for ufh zones. They are triggered by Tado wired wall stars.

Zone 8 is for the radiator zone. It is triggered by the tado box that in turn receives signals from the tado radiator trvs.
