at least it was constructive diagnosis, you seem to be a man who takes one too many leaps and guess far to often without reading anything properly.

leaps and guesses! i don't guess, i work things out properley, and analysis nearly everything! but the way people write on here makes it hard to understand without pics!!

pretty much everything i have seen you write has been an uninformed guess or a completely useless comment.

if you cant make a diagnosis without pictures maybe you should go back to reading comics and leave it to people who can.

i haven't written many comments so what are you on about?

im not saying i always need pics but people dont understand technical terms as plumbers/HTG engineers do and without them explaining it properley, without seeing it it is difficult to diagnose the correct fault.

Oh dear 2 numpty plumbers (CCC?) giving advice on boilers/heating systems. Please refrain from posting further nonsense...it just confuses the OPs.

Often pumps fail due to excessive endfloat on the shaft. Merely testing the rotation with the screwdriver provides sufficient axial pressure to re-position the shaft allowing it to start up.

For the OP the chances are the pump is sticking, however when it packs up again check to see if power is still being applied...then you will no for definate whether it is the pump.

Gentlemen please.
A single phase a.c. motor has a capacitor connected across its supply, to an auxiliary field to provide a starting torque. ( There is no need with a 3- phase motor [for instance] because each phase is sequential to the last and so therefore provides torque to turn the motor in the correct direction.)
If a "starter" capacitor is faulty, the motor will just sit humming but a short spin in the correct direction will set it in motion. (This is also true of a 3- phase motor that has lost one phase.)
If you fit a new capacitor to your circulation pump it may then work. ( You can find it under the terminal block cover. Short out the terminals with a cable or screwdriver before touching them!) If that doesn't work then change the pump.
