Hi all

I hope someone can help.... Our boiler has started making VERY load banging/vibrating noises recently. So loud they vibrate the whole house (like being in a club where the bass from the speakers is too loud!).

Its like it is getting itself stuck somehow. It happened yesterday when we turned the heating on for 2 hours. The heating didn't go off when programmed to and we only noticed it was still on when this loud banding/vibrating occured which didn't stop until we turned the boiler off.

It has happened again today but when the hot water was programmed to kick in. After reseting it both times the noise stopped and the heating/hot water works as normal.

Just a bit worried about it happening and exploding if we cannot get to it in time to turn it off!

Any help/advice in what's wrong or how to solve the problem would be greatly appreciated.

If its an open vented system, can you confirm that there's actually water in the header tank in the loft?

If you don't know how to check if there's any water in the header tank get a heating engineer in.
