boiler rcd

hi. what would cause the boiler to trip the rcd switch? if you wanted to determine if indeed the boiler was tripping the rcd i assume all you have to do is unplug and reset the rcd and if it doesnt trip then the problem is with the boiler?ta

What type of boiler are we talking combi?

system? this one will have a seperate Hw cylinder

The short answer is earth faults could be found anywhere and they can be a pain to find... Totally disconnecting the boiler and heating from the electrical supply would help to indicate whether or not the leakage is on the boiler/ heating... assuming that you have established that the circuit that the boiler is connected to is the circuit that is showing the fault....
