Firstly as this is my first post I just want 2 thank this forum for its help over the last couple of years. In fact I've always found an answer 2 my problems by doing a search so haven't had 2 ask a specific question, but that time has finally come!

It's more advice than a particular problem as I know there's a lot of experience on this forum. I've got a 12 year old Baxi 2 Solo boiler & although it's working fine at the moment, I wondered if now would be a good time 2 replace it using the boiler scrappage scheme? What do you guys think? We've fairly hard water here so tho' a combi sounds like a good idea, I know a few of you are wary of them in hard water areas. Any thought or suggestions gratefully received.

Cheers

It's typical! I completely missed the posts about the scheme until I posted my message. ;~} Thanx snug, what I don't get is that if it's going 2 cost £2G+ & your boiler's fine at the mo', who's going go 4 this scheme?

From an installers point of view, I can't be arrsed. I have plenty of work on, and am getting loads of calls wanting written quotes. At very best, I would get 50 % of these jobs.

As a one man band, I don't need the work, as I can't handle any more. Undoubtably scrappage is a scheme lobbied for by BG, who can handle lots of extra work. One or two man companies can't.

So. if you want a written scrappage quote, I'm busy. Very busy!

I agree it seems to be on the list which I find surprising because it does not have a permanent pilot.

There is no significant difference in quoting for a boiler replacement and quoting for a boiler replacement where the homeowner is going to apply for the scrappage allowance.
