Can anyone anser this question for me... what exactly is covered/done when your boiler is serviced.. what will be examined.. and is it only examination(s) that is covered by a service?
Thanks in advance guys :)

My boiler is a baxi combi 80E.. not sure how old it is (over 5 years old for sure).
I am just enquiring to see what things are done/should be done when a boiler is service.

if i was doing the service id
=visually check flue and prv
=visually check condition of seals and heat exchanger
=check op of heating/hot water (advise of any faults)
=check burner pressure/gas rate
=test op of any safety device's
=check emissions using a flue gas analyser (strip n clean if necessary)

add to that
repressurise expansion vessel(if accessible) but many dont do this.

i was not asking if a service would include a repair. I was asking what a service normally included, as I have heard it varies between different companies/boiler engineers. Some check more things than others.

Look in the manual. There is a section that states what should be done.

It might surprise you but nearly half of the calls that I get to service a boiler are when they are aware of a problem with it.

I have to interrogate them to see if its really a routine service. I finally get them to sometimes admit there is a problem when I suggest in 7-10 days time.

I go to a repair the same day and charge 52% more than for a service.

I also check the minimum and ignition gas settings where relevant.

I dont measure the EXV air pressure but check its function by warming the system and noting the pressure increase. That takes into account any blockage in the communication pipe.

Also I ask a few questions about topping up etc. to see if there are any other issues.
