I had a new diverter valve and pump put into my boiler in February. I discovered 4 months later that the boiler was leaking. When they came out to fix it they said it was too late for it to be the same claim (the diverter valve hadn't been tightened properly and he'd left another pipe uncoupled which I tightened by hand myself).
However, whilst doing this they found that the shield was leaking? So they cut the gas off to my boiler. Is it possible to get a new shield or does the boiler have to be replaced? Also there was soot on the inside of the cover which they said was a clear indication of this yet that was how the cover had looked when the last guy had been out. (I know this because I saw it when I took the cover off).
I'd appreciate any advice thanks.
