Hi

My plumber left the other day having swapped an old back boiler for a shiny condensing combi. He has wired the boiler (via a FCU) to a 15A mcb in the consumer unit. I'm not sure if he did this because it should be one one of these, or because it was the first empty space that came to hand...

It does seem to be working fine, but just wanted to check. The only technical data I have is:

Ariston Micro Genus HE
Supply Voltage 230
Supply Frequency 50Hz
Power Consumption 120W

Anyone got any views?

Thanks

If he fused it down sufficiently, and used the correct sized cable to the FCU then what he did was fine - not necessary but still acceptable.

Is this plumber a member of a self certification scheme? All new circuits are notifiable work.

Cheers!

Still waiting for the installation certificate to come through...

It does no harm to have a dedicated circuit for the boiler (I am assuming from what you say that the 15A fuseway was "spare" i.e. not used.

The FCU should have a 3A or 5A fuse in it (not a 13A one).

The 15A Fuseway was spare... I'll make sure the FCU has the right fuse. FCU to Consumer Unit is 2.5mm T+E - is that ok?

Cheers
