I have had a complet boiler and heating renewed the corgi engineer never returned to commision the boiler. I have had no heating or hot water in my house since May 2008 and the project manager was paid all the money for the renewed system what do i do?

If you have his CORGI number get in touch with CORGI. Probably a solicitor is the best bet, or at least Citizens Advice.

If they took the full payment and never completed the work you can make a claim through the courts.

It sounds as if you may have been dealing with a rogue company who may have been using the cORGI details of a genuine firm.

If you wanted to email me with all the details then I would be happy to investigate the situation for you free of charge. However, there may well be another side to the story.

Hi Tony
thanks for your reply here is the full story. I got a relative to renovate my home, he introduced us to the engineer, plasterer electrican, we interviewed them and gave the ok for them to do the work. howerever my relative went away on holiday for three weeks out of the six week where the whole job should be completed.
from the onset we asked him to provide a schedule of works which to this day we have never received, before we anticipated any problems we had transferred 1£10.500.00 to his account for full payment of the areas mentioned above. we then viewed work a painted had done which was of very poor standard we said we did not want this painted to do any work in our home he gave him the job.

he the bought a carpenter to do works we thought he was going to be doing himself we explained to him we did not ok this man or the painter.
they comtinued to work.

when we asked how much money the carpenter and painter were charging we got no reply. the problem begone to arise when we insisted getting the schedule of works before we handed any more money over as this was going into the 5th week.

He claimed he had paid the men all of the money to complete the job and they slacked off whilst he was on holiday for 3 weeks so now he wanted more money and I said no, not until the areas of works we had paid for was completed and he gave us the schedule of works. so he came after my other half with a hammer and i called the police.

He then worked off the job and told the electician, the plaster and the Corgi engineer not to return, we subsequently found out he had not paid them as he said he had done because the plasterer turned up a few days later at our home for the rest of his money we had to show him the bank transfer to prove that we had paid all the money to his employer.

we have lost a lot from our encounter which i will not mention here our floor boards were destroyed skirting boards ripped off the walls my home became a building site I have pictures to prove it. i have asked via his son for the corgi's details and he has declined to give it to us. so now im without heating and hot water since May 2008.

we paid for a full rewiring of the house this was not done, full plastering of all the walls and ceiling 1/3 of it was not done, and the electric works and data wiring incomplete i have wires handing out off the walls at present and a complete new central heating system including new radiators. thats the story

what do you need to investigate

Please explain what you mean by... ''Aha, the old bait, switch and hammer routine''. because this has been no joke this is what really happened.

All I offered to investigate was the boiler installer if you knew his name and address.

Its clear that you had far too much trust in this relative. Nor should you have paid him the full cost in advance.

No good tradesman would even ask for such a large sum in advance of the work.

Unfortunately, its now too late to do anything to retrieve the situation other than to pay a lot more to have all the bad work put right.

In theory you could take him to court and sue him but even though you would probably get judgement in your favour it could be a costly procedure and you are unlikely to get anything back from him.
