It must be a common problem.

Where the tap goes through the material of the bath tapers, meaning even when done up tight with a pair of foam washers the tap is only held down the front edge not at the back edge, so rocks forward when you apply a force to it, bad worse by its being a fairly large bath-shower mixer.

I guess what you really want is a very large tapered washer or two, do these exist, in which case what are they called and where can i order some.

Otherwise is there a clever was of levaling out the underside of the bath
? By best thought so far (bar sticking it with silcon, which would never last) is with some grease on the threads of the tap, gob a load of pinkgrip/nomorenails onto the back of a plastic washer and assemble loosely. Then when thats all set, nip it all up and or reassemble with foam washers. Thus creating a wedge of filler, and a flat face to bolt against.

Is this a two hole tap?
You'll maybe get somewhere by using tap centralisers and thick poly washers underneath, but a brass backnut is essential.
If its a single hole mixer, ignore my ramblings.....

Yes, two hole mono-block. Well, actaully its a universal wall/deck mounted bar mixer, with deck mounting kit (Aqualisa jobbie) Ive got some brass nuts (off the old taps) but theres a limit to how muh you can tighten them and when its just coming down on one point more isnt always going to help.

I like the centraliser idea however, if i can possition them and get them to hold in on there own while the gooo cures.

Piece of timber, plywood or similar big enough to cover both tap holes, drilled to suit and stuck in place / packed out with a large dollop of car body filler.

Set everything up square and level with whatever temporary support is necessary. use the backnuts to support the plate, then tighten everything up after the filler has cured.

A couple of pieces of waste pipe cut to match the taper, and fitted over the tap tails can sometimes be helpful too.
