Is it true that in the new regs they are scrapping bonding to plastic piped installations where applicable

You wouldn't bond plastic pipes anyway, would you
Supplementary bonding in bathrooms might be going out in favour of RCD protecting all circuits in the location.

If approved, the 17th edition of BS7671 no longer requires equipotential bonding of bathrooms, but all circuits within the bathroom must be RCD protected.


Main bonding to all extraneous conductive parts will still be required.



Currently you sill need to cross bond all electrical services in a bathroom even if piped in plastic.

So I presume that will mean independant lighting/fan circuits for the bathroom will be required.

The thing I found daft in the DPC was there didn't appear to be an exclusion from RCD protection for SELV circuits

Ive had an idea of running the lights,fans etc off a RCD switched fuse spur!?

it wont always be possiable i know but....

Yes, I put my comment in a while back. Wether or not they actually take any notice of it has yet to be seen.
