Boost button on an old ideal vulcan rs55 boiler

Currently living in a student flat fitted with an old style ideal vulcan rs55 boiler and just trying to work out (while on a cost saving excerise) whether the boost button is more expensive than the heating programme? Specifically, is the boost button an immersion heater where a normal programme would not be?
