Bosch Classixx 1000 (WFL2063GB) clicks and trips internally

I have a machine that starts to or, sounds like the motor is trying to start but a relay (presumably thermal) clicks and stops it, it tries again (assuming some sort of thermal timer protecting the motor?) and the same happens; is this indicative of a particular problem? the machine has performed faultlessly and is an important bit of kit so, would like to see if I can fix it asap?

Check the motor brushes,the click you can hear is probably the motor relay on the pcb.

Thanks for this; can I ask, is this symptom indicative? My wife said she "smelt something, smelled like burning" but I've not experienced this.

One other question; how easy is it a: to change the brushes and b: acquire them? Not afraid of either, just want to ensure it's within my capabilities before I embark on a machine destroying activity..

If you turn the drum by hand is there a clicking from the motor?if so the motor armature has a lifted segment which would mean a new motor.If not remove the motor from the back, two bolts and unplug the wiring.

Turning the drum by hand, what I can only describe as a (speed relative) tish, tish, tish? The only way I can describe it is that it sounds like a soft ratchet?

The noise appears to be coming from the drum or, in the close vicinity and it doesn't sound like a noise travelling up from the motor armature?

I hope that helps, I feel useless! (nothing new there says the wife!)
