Hi

Just noticed this morning that our Bosch F/F normally set at -20'c was drifting below -10'c and this afternoon the alarm told me it was below -5'C

I also noticed some clear ice build up on couple of the baskets and inside door but put this down to kids not closing properly etc.

Fridge temp is solid at 4'c and the compressor is kicking in and out.

On switching off the rear compressor is only slightly warm to the touch.
The internal fan is switching on (removed cover and can see it turning)
in the main freezer compartment.

As this is a single compressor I guess the fault must lie with a valve/pipe blockage or perhaps NTC?

At the moment the machine is being defrosted.

Can anyone point me in the right direction re fixing the problem.

I can afford a replacement and hope this all makes some sense to someone!

Many thanks in advance

Chris

First thing to do as it is a frost free is to completely defrost the appliance for at least 24 hours.
Ensure the evaporator tray at the rear does not overflow (normally on or near the compressor).
The frost free part done by having a heater in the freezer on the evaporator pipework. This sometimes does not have the time to defrost the ice build up and so the freezer stats get encased in ice and the freezer thinks it is the right temp and does not start back up.
Some freezers only bring the compressor in when the fridge gets warm so if the fridge is at around -4/5 the freezer will not be getting chilled (happens when fridge freezers are put in cold rooms)

Thanks for the reply.

Found another thread on the web which suggested the divertor valve from
the compressor to Fridge and Freezer stuck or blockage on the pipework
If the full defrost doesnt recover it may have to call an engineer in ...eek

Also been suggested that it is unlikely to be a sensor/ntc because of the absence of any error code.

I may also try laying the freezer on its back to redistribute the oil in the system and then leaving upright again for a while.

I will see what tomorrow brings..........

As an update I helped the defrost with a hair dryer and also thoroughly cleaned
the inside cabinets with warm soapy water.

This morning I lay the machine on its back for about half an hour and then
left upright for a couple of hours.
I also decided to give the rear valve a bit of a tap...not very scientific
but it made some sense to me if it was sticking?

Around lunchtime I switched the machine back on and used the fast freeze
to help the temps go in the right direction.
The fridge got to temp pretty quickly and I also noticed that opening the
freezer door waiting for a few moment until the alarm sounded resulted in
"water down the plughole" kind of noise or gurgling quite loud...

This evening the machine is sitting at stable temps and fully loaded with food.
The gurgling is still evident but is seems to be getting less.

It would be nice to know why this really happened but hey its working again!

Thanks to Leccy for his help!

Hope the above helps others with Bosch F/F problems..........
