Hi all, have a little problem with installing a new bottle trap as the old one was leaking all over the place. Right now i'm having an issue with the telescopic pipe sealing at the top end with the washer and nut tightened as far as it will go (about 2 threads) and the pipe has a lot of play even with all that done. Kind of stumped on what to do. My sink is a circular glass one. Took a picture of the problem area

    Thanks

I think your wastes thread ,and your traps thread are not compatible. Did you source the waste and trap from different sources ?

Waste came with the sink back in the day so yes, i've tried two kits so far, floplast and now the alpine and both have issues with sealing at the top.

For reference on the old vs new [IMG]

I think your waste is a European thread , metric probably. UK traps are BSP ( British imperial threads). Change the waste fitting for a UK waste. Or search for a conversion coupler to go in between.
Can you show a pic of the waste thread ,without the trap connected ?

Almost reached the point where we need to carry an euro converter with us now.

Your trap slides inside the outlet, your rubber seal and nut sit on the outlet to receive the trap ,should be straight forward.

As you can see it's a lot of thread but i can get about 2-3 turns and it'll tighten up.

Am i looking for something like this then? https://www.screwfix.com/p/mcalpine-t12a-f-1-bsp-eu-uk-coupler-white-40mm-x-40mm/1358v
