Just bought a rover 25 54reg after driving for a bit it starts to sqeaking on the drivers wheel also had a burning smell and gets very hot i got a warranty with the car can anyone tell me what is causing this

The disc pads, for one reason or another, are sticking on and not releasing when you take your foot off the brake pedal. Initially the pads should be taken out and thoroughly cleaned together with the caliper, and at the same time the caliper sliders should be checked - i.e with the pads out of the way the caliper should be able to slide on its pins freely. More likely than not this will cure the problem, but if it doesn't the caliper piston may be sticking - but this only really happens if the outer dust seal has been split due to some carelessness. Reassemble the pads with coppaslip grease on all of the sliding surfaces, and on the back of the pads. Cheers John
