From the above article " But now we have had nearly two decades of the euro, one of the most efficient job destruction machines ever created. The combined impact of the euro and their own internal corruption has led output in Italy, Portugal, Spain and Greece to be much lower now than it was 10 years ago. This is a recession without parallel in economic history in its length and severity."

Again a quote "
These simple statements, which resonated with 17.4 million people, are not negative ones. They are not “anti-Europe”. Rather, they are positive expressions of the age-old notion that a sovereign country will be more successful when it governs its own affairs.

Leaving the Single Market, for example, is a prerequisite for expanding our trade around the world – because we are, in the main, a services economy and any services negotiation is a negotiation on domestic regulation, which we must control.

In 1999, 61 per cent of UK trade was with the EU. Now it is 43 per cent. By 2025, it has been projected that our exports to the EU will account for under 35 per cent. The European Commission itself predicts that 90 per cent of global economic growth in the next 10-15 years will be generated outside Europe, a third of it in China alone."

Of course ardent remainers are pessimistic about this nations independant possibilities, the Brits are a inventive nation take WW2 English ingenuity compared with the boxed mentally of the Germans as an example.

Apart from Blitzkrieg where their arming and weapon production put them streets ahead once that advantage was lost what then ? A slow steady decline ........ As for the Brits ? Onwards and upwards The Dam busters, the Lanc, Mosquito , Enigma breaking, Deception, D day, Spitfire, Black propaganda, the continual application of maverick ingenuity........ the nazis never stood a chance.

Why does Brexit have to drag us back to the war days. Is it not possible to have Brexit and not have to go back to rationing?

I'm not looking forward to crappy British Leyland style cars and brushing my teeth with soot. Just how bad is the North Korea economic model these days?

And as for those bloody uber-successful Gerries…. I guess they'll just have to go on enjoying having the benefit of EU seamless trade deals with the latest boom economies around the globe. Think they'll throw Blighty the scraps...?

Even Gasbag quotes an article that says:

"The majority opinion among economists, however, is that the UK leaving the EU will necessarily lead to our trade becoming less free. This is a judgement about political economy, on which standard economic theory is silent. Simply put, they agree with Remainers that we cannot negotiate better trade deals on our own than we can from within the European Union."

The articles are all from 2017 when they were still boisterous about the benefits of a unicorn and rainbows Brexit. But as more and more details have emerged these voices have slowly receded. They are still pushing Minfords debunked supply side economic argument which is all theory. It's ironic that Brexiters who hark about living in the real world and dismiss others as being soft snowflakes who have never got their hands dirty will suddenly about turn and believe the theories of Minford.

Brexit,fact,get over yourself

There is no benefit from Brexit, unless you have links to Tate & Lyle:

You could legitimately turn that on its head and ask the question why does the EU have high tariffs on sugar imports.....

For the same reason it has tariffs on roasted coffee beans from Africa.

And why does it dump cheap milk powder into Africa.

Is the article carefully avoiding pointing out the EUs protectionist approach to food

So you are all for Moggs plan then. Zero tariffs and cut regulation.

Cutting your nose to spite yourself isn't winning.
