Steel tariffs have been lifted said on the news :cool:

UK has or will be lifting tariffs on US goods

Hmmm I would have thought that the US lifting tariffs on UK Steel
And aluminium was a good thing :idea:

Trade body UK Steel said steel exports to the US had declined from 350,000 tonnes in 2018 to 200,000 tonnes in 2020, since the tariffs came in.

In 2019, the UK produced 7 million tonnes of steel. China produced 996 million tonnes in the same year.

Our scrap metal exports do better - for reprocessing elsewhere. When Japan was bringing cars here they loaded up with scrap ones to take back.
Scrap metal exports from the United Kingdom for 2019 amounted to roughly 11.7 million metric tons.

We ran out of iron ore yonks ago and had a period of importing it.
