Brick column around wood post

I have a Jarrah pergola, with the posts attached directly to a concrete pad. I want to put 3 courses of brick around the base.

Is there a method for this to reduce moisture And extend the life of the post?

Concrete spur.

Do you mean fixed with steel shoes?

You really need to take the post away from contact with the ground, or concrete buried in the ground. Preferably by lifting it out, but after bolting to a spur you can cut the bottom off.

And to prevent rain running down the post into its socket.
