House was built in 1995 and the fronts of the bricks underneath the bay window are beginning to fall off.

Is this poor quality bricks ? I've seen the fronts of bricks of standalone walls fall off before after bad weather, and on properties when they are very old, but we are talking about a house less than 20 years old.

I'm wondering if this is a sign of things to come with more 'modern' houses, or whether I should should continue my search for houses build in 1970 or earlier for a more "solid" house.

You can see the properties I'm talking about here: (It's one of the detached ones with the silver car on the drive way)

is there a drip on the underside of the cills ( a small grove about 4mm deep 4mm wide ) ?

It can happen to bricks on older houses as well. Depends on the type of brick and whether the freeze/thaw cycle can get to it.

Not sure at the moment, it's kinda dark. I can check in the morning.

I guess what you are thinking is that water is running off the cill and down the bricks rather than dropping of the cill? And bricks are porous so are soaking it up and then the freeze/thaw cycle.

the golden age of non-faulty houses never existed.

as you can see, the bricks which the fronts are falling off are at the bottom, near the floor.

I'm thinking these may be under the DPC.

Is there more problems I wonder than just a window cill dripping on the bricks, as is, why so far down, or is it rising damp through a bad DPC?

Or maybe the house requires a drain or soakaway near the wall?
