brick mortar joint

Hi

I am a newbie in this forum and forgive me for my ignorance. the house is about 20 years old.

I have found the mortar joint profile between the bricks underneath my front window (a bay window) is not very neat - there is a small gap between the mortar and the brick. A picture is attached. The mortar at other places on the same wall seems okay. Is this normal? Thanks!
