I'd bought some high temperature paint for the inside of a brick fireplace that is going to be very close to a wood-burning stove (40-50mm).

A fireplace shop told me you can use any water-based emulsion even that close to a working stove. Is that right? It's not going to touch the stove but it's bound to get pretty hot. That'd give me a much greater range of colours as the high temp stuff only comes in black and is a pain to apply as well. Is he right though?

Thanks,
Chris

Chris the advice that you were given was good, a waterbased emulsion would be fine for such an application.
