Hi all,

I live in a 140yr old Victorian mid terrace. I am replastering the bay of the bedroom due to a historic roof leak (since fixed).

Some of the bricks under the bay window (away from where the leak was) seem to have spalled on the inside. Unsure of the cause or whether it is historic and the bricks are just old.

I have included pictures of the inside and from the outside. On the outside there are some old nails in the brickwork...could water get in through there?

I do not know if this should cause a worry?

Thanks,

Paul

There are just areas in rooms, on the outside wall, at floor level and under Windows where some of the bricks are crumbly/flaky and missing some parts. Could this be due to moisture in the house? It's just on the inside so seems odd.

More pictures attached.
