Hi,
I laid a floor in my front room with reclaimed pine and hired a floor sander and got the old dark and patchy varnish and wax off, but now it's looking a bit too 'new'.

It's an old house and I wanted to keep some character in the wood. I hav'nt oiled it yet, but before I do that is there anything I can put down to bring out/darken the detail of the pine before I oil?

Many thanks

Any finish used will darken the floor a bit, try this out with a bit of water. this will show you how the floor will look after finishing it with a natural, clear finish. Pine does tend to turn a bit orangy of its own.
If you want a nice, warm not orangy colour, try HardWaxOil Golden Oak colour.
