Morning,
I have no lights on the WR1 unit.
I’ve switched off the boiler at its switch waited 10 seconds then back on again.
I hear the boiler fan make a noise for a second or two then it stops.
The WR1 does flash any lights.

I’ve put new batteries in the thermostat but still no lights on WR1

Can I switch on heating without using Wi-fi connection or any checks I can further make.

British Gas can’t come out for 3 days.

On the thermostat next to where I see say 21.3 there is a black flashing Wi-fi signal logo.

See attached photos.

There are no lights on at the WR1 receiver so it looks like that is your problem, press button 2 and see if the boiler comes on, are you comfortable doing electrical wiring ?

I’ve removed the WR1 off the wall plate.
Please can you advise which wire / wires I need to join to start the hearing.

Thanks.

OK turn the power off to your heating system, remove the receiver and on the back pate where the wiring is, there will be L&N and two wires going in to terminals 1&3 put a temp link between 1&3 and your boiler will come on, if you want the boiler off turn the thermostat on the boiler to the frost symbol until you can replace the thermostat and receiver or until BG attend , if you want to replace the setup there are lots that will just fit on the existing backplate just remove the temp link that you have just fitted and put the replacement unit on

Ian,
Are you sure?
Looking at his back plate photo, 1= Neutral and 2 = Live
which are there to power the receiver.

To turn on the boiler don't you join wires 3 and 5 (which is what the receiver switch control will do)?

Ian, PLEASE IGNORE MY TEXT ABOVE - Sorry, I was using phone and looking at his numbers in RED, not the numbers in Black on the Back plate.
https://www.diynot.com/diy/attachments/19fcb4b5-e001-4e4c-a27c-c2a5b3f9f544-jpeg.171889/

N = (1red) = Neutral
L = (2red) = Live
1 = (3red) = Boiler Control Wire ---- JOIN
2 = (4red) = No connection
3= (5red) = Boiler Control Wire ----- TOGETHER
4 = (6red) = No connection

As Ian correctly said, join 1 (3red) and 3 (5red) to switch on boiler, remembering wires are at 240V so isolate first.

Wiring Diagram is here:

Hi,
I numbered the plate for your info so 1 2 3 4 5 6
If you zoom into the photo the platre is marked.
So

mine 1 2 3 4 5 6

plate N L 1 2 3 4

So Ianmcd is talking about the plate numbers 1 & 3 which will then be my 3 & 5 black & grey

Correct ?

So im bridging these correct ?

Yes that is correct if you do not have a bridge just put both wires into the same connection, wont matter which one it is just a simple switch

Ok thought so.

I will fit a wire from 3 & 5 via a switch then i can turn the switch on / off.

What amp rating should the switch be ?

Yes I have seen that video.
My system is insured so B Gas will be fitting a new unit.
Just needed some heat as it was cold here today and they can’t come for another 2 todays etc.

Make do switch now in place and heating works fine.
Just as we think it’s warm enough I will switch it off.

Many thanks for the advice.
