British man sacked for criticising Trump

:rolleyes:Who’d have thought JohnD would twist and turn, to pretend someone said something they didn’t, in order to disagree with it.
He was referring to Ivor's comment.
I suspect the regular lefty posters here don't really understand the concept of employment and sometimes having to keep yer trap shut.
You only work these things out from experience. Of working for a living.
How silly are the people who claim that people they disagree with have no experience of life at work

Plenty of people are deciding that america is not the place to go whilst the orange rapist is in charge...

"The U.S. has the unfortunate distinction of being the only major tourist destination that saw a decline in visitors in 2025, and it looks like that trend will continue into 2026, according to a new report.

Tourism grew worldwide in 2025, but the U.S. saw a 6 percent drop last year, according to data from the World Travel and Tourism Council.
Cornwall and IoW are hardly comparable to USA.
Cornwall tourism was well down last year.
same for the IOW

Assuming you hold a senior position in your company? Would you openly share your lefty, personal views in a linkedin post?

Its obviously a complete no go, and someone who works in PR, is the first person who should know this.
Do we know when he made those comments, or what his role was at the time?
You seem to be making hay based on your assumptions.

His posts weren't criticism, anyway. They were general advice to businesses on strategy for navigating the new Trump administration.

don't be daft. At best it was a sarcastic, opinionated playbook, but in reality anti-trump clickbait that backfired.

It wasn't click bait. And it wasn't sarcastic. It certainly wasn't personal criticism. It looks like he was giving an even handed analysis of where governments and companies stood in Trump world, in a chatty, open style. Tiny snippets seem to have been taken out of context. The main one quoted seems to have actually been from an article praising Trump's communication ability. It wasn't an article about the press conference. That was just an aside.

Donald Trump is a gifted communicator. Ok, if you sat through his ludicrously meandering press conference last evening you may not agree. But his talent isn't elegance, it's a ruthless control of attention, and an instinct for language that divides the world into simple parts.

I'd call that mickey-taking. If I was his employer and he was talking about my client (or client's customer) then I'd get rid of him sharpish. Otherwise I'd be worried about what he might say next. Clearly a loose cannon who doesn't understand.

There's no evidence that Trump has had any involvement in this process.

It was the US Embassy who complained. Presumably, at the instigation of Trump or one of his acolytes.

The interesting question is where does this leave free speech. If an article praising Trump is being cracked down on by the Trump administration for an out of context, throw away comment.

Nonsense.

It's absurd to think that the man-baby insists on stifling free speech and what people really think about the revolting orange rapist.
The fat orange rapist insists on only hearing good things about himself. He has zero interest in the truth.
