His posts weren't criticism, anyway. They were general advice to businesses on strategy for navigating the new Trump administration.

It wasn't click bait. And it wasn't sarcastic. It certainly wasn't personal criticism. It looks like he was giving an even handed analysis of where governments and companies stood in Trump world, in a chatty, open style. Tiny snippets seem to have been taken out of context. The main one quoted seems to have actually been from an article praising Trump's communication ability. It wasn't an article about the press conference. That was just an aside.

Donald Trump is a gifted communicator. Ok, if you sat through his ludicrously meandering press conference last evening you may not agree. But his talent isn't elegance, it's a ruthless control of attention, and an instinct for language that divides the world into simple parts.

I'd call that mickey-taking. If I was his employer and he was talking about my client (or client's customer) then I'd get rid of him sharpish. Otherwise I'd be worried about what he might say next. Clearly a loose cannon who doesn't understand.

The interesting question is where does this leave free speech. If an article praising Trump is being cracked down on by the Trump administration for an out of context, throw away comment.
