What sort of broadband speed and deal are you on I'm withT******I on unlimited downloads and 2mb speed for 14.99 a month.Any better deals I should be looking at I have done test and they come up to 8mb speeds.

I'm on the same package as you and to be honest I can't fault it - though their customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

My brother discovered that just because you do a line test and it tells you that you can get up to 8mb speed doesn't mean you'll get it.

There are a lot of factors to take into consideration re the speed - how far away from the exchange you are and also the age of your phone lines. Our phone lines are pretty old and I just don't think they can cope with the demand.

My brother was originally on the 8mb package of the same ISP but he never ever got 8mb - in fact most times he was lucky if he got 1mb. He changed over to his TV supplier and they told him that although the test on the computer showed he could get 8mb, his line wouldn't actually support it, so he's on a 2mb connection with them and it's been OK.

If you have your TV through a satellite dish (I'm guessing here that we're not allowed to post up company names), their package is actually quite good and you get a free router with it. Only difference is that they are capped at a 40gb monthly download limit.

Dunno if that helps or not - but in short, I'd stick with what I've got!!

My grandad is with chatchat for broadband and phone. I have to say, I was fairly impressed with their customer service when I had to phone them for a technical fault. The guy on the end knew exactly what to do, and I got through within a minute. He talked me through it precisely and clearly.

I'm with orange. £17.99 a month for 8MB. Always has been 17.99 since the days of freeserve, and 512K! 8)

I'm with NewNet, reasons I chose them was because they have a UK based tchnical helpline which was superb when I needed to get online in the first place and set my modem up, had great reviews on the web, and you don't need a 12 month contract. Think I pay about £16 but who cares about a pound or 2 if the service is great? I seem to remember their charges start at about £10. Service has never failed or dropped out in 12 months.

Talktalk package is great if you want free calls (including international for an extra £1/month) and broadband up to circa 3meg (all for £22).

One caveat though ... You MUST know what you're doing and be prepared to setup & manage yourself as their call centre is in India and quite appalling.

Maybe your experience, but although it is in india, i found them very helpful.

Ive been with nildram.net for as few years, there always been good the couple of times Ive had to contact them.

It is indeed but, as I have sorted out over 150 disgruntled talktalk users problems to date (most of which have been due to the call centre), it is pretty reflective I think

I would say in their defence, though, that they have improved quite a bit in the past 6 months based on my experience on the odd occasion I have needed to call them
