hi all,

I would like to know if anyone has ever seen a pier collapse on one side. I was removing the roof today and the top 6 courses of the inside pier have decided they'd collapse. Photos to follow shortly but the crux is that the inside of the wall has fell in.

is there any way to fix this ya think?

It is not unusual for the uppermost courses of masonry to be easilly disturbed, particularly if the masonry is rather old.

Six course loosened on the top of a pier is only a collapse if the pier is six courses high!

Otherwise its very common - especially then the pier is not tied in

Hi there,

Yeah it appears that the wall is not tied in how can this be achieved do I have to take it all down and start again

Thanks[/list]

No.

Ties in a L shape with the long end split in a fishtail style

Commonly called fishtail or frame ties
