BSP Internal Thread Size

Hi

Does anyone know what size male thread (i.e eye bolt) will fit into a 3/8" female BSP pipe thread? Or if there even is such a gauge?

Obviously (now I've done some reading ) 3/8" BSPT is the internal pipe diameter of the male part, not the outer thread diameter.

bsp is a type of thread ,and 3/8 inch is one of the sizes available. so you get a male and a female 3/8 and they thread together. what is it you are working on ?

Just be aware, you can get BSP in both parallel and taper forms. BSPT as in your heading would be taper.

I’ll preface this by saying my project is very much DIY but not plumbing related, I thought this was the best forum to ask about pipe threads.

I’m making a loading pin for weight training (rather than dropping £30-£40 on commercially made versions) using a floor flange, threaded pipe, reducing socket and eye bolt. In my ignorance I thought 3/8” was 3/8”. Having since read up on BSP I now realise why a 3/8” eye bolt will not fit with a 3/8” BSP thread.

I’m wondering if there is a bolt thread size which will fit, or if I’ll need to use a nut inside the reducer to thread the bolt through.
