BT Master Socket Installation?

G

Hi, We have a self build property (4 years old) that has been rented out and the tenant never had a phone or broadband. The property has a BT line up to the property (a grey box on the front of the property). There is no BT master socket in the property and we need one now for broadband etc.

Can anyone advise who/who can install this? Is it only BT and I assume there is a cost?

Any advise appreciated.

They maybe a cost of having the line activated. ( at present it is unlikely to be connected at the exchange end of the line ). That would include fitting the Master socket. The box outside may in fact be an external NTE ( Network Termination Equipment ) which has the same function as a Master socket ( teminates OpenReach responsilibity ) but doesn't have a socket and relies on slave sockets being installed ( which you can do )

But as a new subscriber ( customer ) having a contract for broadband and phone service you could ask for a free line activation as part of the deal.

This is an External NTE

You must not touch anything inside the red rectangle but you can ( and may have to ) connect your internal wiring to the terminals in the green rectangle.
