Bubbling paint

Help!

About half way down the wall/shower screen I have started to get bubbling. I have removed/replaced the silicone inside and outside a couple of times and stopped much more obvious leaks. But, I just can’t see where the water is accumulating from, the wall is wet but no water is obvious and the shower trim and silicone are dry. I have dried, sanded and repainted twice and it’s just come back after a day or two.

Any ideas?

Silicone is normally just used on the outside so water don't get trapped inside aluminium frame.

Also it could be condensation forming on the frame effecting that bit of wall

Yes it could. And it could be that the wall doesn’t dry out enough to hold the paint when I’ve repainted.

My biggest concern is somehow water is getting behind the tiles and leaking through the plaster. But might not even be valid.

You say the wall is wet.
Do you know HOW the wall is getting wet?
Is it getting wet from the outside of the wall?
Or id the wall getting wet behind the paint?

Few factors:

The silicone did have issues, I can’t tell if it’s resolved.

There’s condensation - but then the whole wall gets wet, not just this one bit.

What is it that you're painting onto? It doesn't look like plasterboard from here, it looks more like wooden board with a shiny surface.

So if the wall is wet, then water is still getting into it somehow. The most likely source is the shower is not watertight somewhere. Other things to check are if any pipes are leaking, or if water might be coming in from the roof or external wall (if applicable).

When people are in the shower, does water get sprayed in the direction of the peeling patch?

Agree. There’s no pipe work in that area. Could it be something like the grout and/or waterproof tanking has failed in that area?

Yeah that area is in showers target zone

So it's always going to get wet then?
Did you apply a mist coat to bare plaster first?
Are you using bathroom paint?
Could you tile this area?

Maybe I misunderstood this area is outside of the shower, but its adjacent to a shower head target zone on the other side of the screen.

I have scraped, sanded misted and used bathroom paint twice.
