My builder has started work on converting my garage to a room.
we fitted underfloor heating and he has laid the floor screed.
But now he has me worried! he was supposed to be cutting the door opening today but says that there is not enough height to fit a catnic lintel above the opening.

The new floor to wall plate height is 2180mm and on the outside the door can be dropped down another 50mm to the DPC .
the total opening width is 2800mm.
that leaves space for 130mm lintel. which apparently is not enough.

Can anyone tell me the if it is possible under the regs to fit a slightly lower door?

I am worried sick at the moment

thanks for any advice

Mike

Lower height door openings work surprisingly well ! . I have one out to my conservatory - originally a full height door with a step down in the living room behind the dining table  Brought the floor up and reduced the door, haven't hit my head and I'm 6 foot 2 ;)
