I have to build a framework for our pantry floor. Underneath the pantry is a cellar that gets wet, the walls where the frame needs to be fixed to are also slightly damp. The previous pantry floor framework rotted and collapsed over 30 years due to water vapour from the cellar.
I'm lining the walls with waterproof plaster membrane but I'm not sure whether to exend the membrane downwards and have it in between the frame and the wall.
I'd like to know what type of timber would be best to use and whether or not I should actually wrap it in a damp proof membrane or not?
Also, other than frame/hammer fixing would I be better using a different type of fixing?
regards
