building a small extension i have 3 separate 4 inch drains which are existing and never been altered running through,,, will building controll require me to test these ?
You need to establish of any of those drains are public sewers - i.e. do they run from next door onto your property? If so you must apply to your sewerage provider to build over. You can download forms from their website and there is a fee. You will also need a cctv survey and scaled plan. If not then you can build over but your foundation will need to be (at least) equal to the depth of the existing drains and you must lintel over the drains with 50mm clearance.
yes thanks mate i know they're all mine and that thay only serve my house,, i have linteled over and building controll is ok with this,, i was just wondering if BC will require me to test them? they serve a WC,, no2 a gully,,,, no3 a wc and a gully

Our local BCO does not bother much with drain tests for domestic extensions. He said the old stuff will leak a bit anyway, so not much point testing the new bits !
Mine also had no interest in completion tests. They only seemed to be interested in the foundation shuttering, but that was unavoidable for them anyway because they were there looking at the foundation depth.
