I've been hit with an additional £275 by a private BC company. Just wondered if this is normal?

Not something I've heard of, is it in their T&C's? Private BC's are crap.

I was going to take a look later. I agree about private BCs. They hardly come out anyway.

Did they actually have to make a visit instead of relying on photos as is their normal wont?

Unless their terms and conditions specify how many visits they've made allowance for and you've had more then tell them to go whistle and you will raise an official complaint with RICS or whatever professional body they belong to.

Yet another plus for LA: as many visits as needed and no time limit
