Like many people at the moment our Building Control contractor (Assent) has recently gone out of business and work has reverted to the local authority. We seem to perhaps be luckier than some in that we hadn't actually started the building work, although we're talking to a builder about starting soon. Building Control did say they were happy with the plans and sent an Initial Notice to the council. After contacting the council to confirm the next steps they asked us to submit a reversion application online. We started going through the form and we weren't fully confident about how to answer all of the questions. For the initial application we hired someone to draw up the plans and submit the application for us and the process seem to go relatively smoothly. We're now debating whether we should try to submit the application form to the council ourselves and hope for the best or go back to the initial person and ask them to submit it again for us, we do know that they're quite busy with other work so it may add a delay?

The reversion application is merely factual and procedural statements, not technical, so you should be able to complete it yourself.

It sounds like you’re in a good spot since the work hasn’t started yet. If you’re not confident about the online form, it might be safer to go back to the person who helped with the initial plans.
