I need to build a 7 ft retaining wall. I was planning on using 4" concrete blocks laid sidewards.

Im wanting to know.

1. What size footing would be required
2. What mix of concrete I should use and what mix for the mortar

Im also building a few raised beds which will be around 1m in height.

Thanks in advance

You should really get a 7 ft retaining wall properly designed. Rule of thumb says that the base should be 1/4 the height, so you should be building the base at least 550mm wide. But I really wouldn't want to rely on that for a 2.1m high retaining wall...

Better to have a properly designed reinforced block wall with an RC base, which is much less likely to fall over.
