ok, that article describes semi conductors, the concept of electrons flowing through a copper wire is incorrect, they don't flow anywhere.

DC yeah very slowly AC not at all really.

I was wondering why the neutral, surely all the load goes thru on the live

Ok, still trying to get my head around this burnt out neutral.
So obviously I changed the connector after cutting away the burnt out wires. When checking with a screwdriver tester obviously the live connection lights up and the neutral doesn't, so the live carries the load and the neutral just completes the connection.? but there is no live going back to the main circuit. right?
