I’m making preparations for burying an electric vehicle charger cable to be installed by British Gas.

I’m digging the hole 450mm deep and have been told to put 150mm of sand covering the ducting. I’m preparing it as per BG instructions and taking photos.

my question is what type of sand to use, Tarmac builders sand or sharp sand or mixture of both ? Will builders sand be better for drainage because of the grit or is there any other type I should use?

The bottom of the hole 450mm, lay ducting the fill with 150mm sand, 150mm soil, warning tape, backfill to the top, with soil I guess.

This is what BG have specified.

Any advice or suggestions appreciated thanks
