Hi All

So much info on this site,i can't drag myself away from it.

Anyway my question is.....is it safe to remove busbar by just isolating consumer unit.

Many thanks

Brian

probably the cutting of it for installing bouble pole device or transformer / contactor etc.. or the swapping of split load sides to increase one side's capacity ( in ineven split loads.. )

Just wanted to replace 15 amp MCB with 20 amp,as have added a couple of extra sockets.

Why are you removing the bus-bar?
Cant you just loosen off the screw on the existing MCB and remove it?

15amp MCB? Is that a 16amp MCB or a 15amp re-wireable/cartridge?

Are you sure the cable that you are connecting is capable of carrying 20amps?

Some older boards you have to,
to get the mcb in or out

The old mk sentry you did

Is it a old mk sentry 15a mcb in the board
and have you got the 20 as they are pretty scarce now

Have audible tester that tells you if cable is live or not.
Inadequate.

And what are you going to do about the tests that should be done, and results recorded on the certificate that should be issued, to prove & show that the circuit is safe with a 20A breaker on it?

BTW - you do know that changing an MCB rating is notifiable, don't you....
