Hi,

In the process of buying a new place. Had a full structural survey done, but there was no access to the garage at that time. Been to the house again this morning and managed to get access to the garage.

The garage is underneath a bedroom and the ceiling is a poured concrete slab. I noticed a crack running the entire width of the ceiling which has since been patched up but looks like it's re-cracked a little.

The house is 1930s and the slab seems sandy and crumbly in patches.

Since the slab probably supports the bedroom above, wondering what our options are assuming we want to proceed with the sale.

Thanks a lot

Ben

thats bad news espceially mid span you need to get someone to have a proper look at it

Some survey that was.

Anyone would think they were trying to hide something.

I am in the process of getting a pro to have a look.

Assuming there is a problem does anybody know how this kind of thing would be remedied?

It may not need a remedy at all. If they were trying to hide it they would have plasterboarded the thing over. There's probably a load of rebar in there.
